One thing I want to do before baby Foxi comes into the world, is doing something intentional for each one of the kiddos - whether that is make their own space unique or create a special memory. I want them to have this time with me before the busyness of a newborn is upon us.
So little Miss Sal wanted us to spruce up her space with some handpicked wallpaper!
I had added some bead board to her room for a bit of texture - this was a super easy DIY and took me just 3 pieces and some trim!
After deliberation from the client, ahem, Quinn, we carefully selected Heirloom by Behr Paint - it’s this rich color that makes a statement, adds warmth and is so very Quinn! I used a roller for most because the paint is so easy to work with, it goes on in such a perfect layer - it’s like buttah. I then went in with a small brush to just make sure all the lines in the bead board were completely covered.
Next was the wallpaper! We chose a mural from @anewalldecor which we chose to add above the bead board. Think of it as basically a large sticker, all self adhesive and so super easy to work with - even on textured walls, yes I said that!
Start by laying out the pieces of wallpaper or mural you’ve chosen to make sure it all lines up and flows - after doing so, go piece by piece using a ladder (or chair if you’re in a bind) and follow the wall adhering each piece as you go!
My Mama Lori taught me a great trick for making sure your lines are straight when placing your paper - use a necklace as your straight line indicator! Place your hand against the wall with a necklace and allow it to hang down, this will show where your line needs to be matched up to the previous piece - and be straight!
Continue along the wall, placing your pieces carefully - don’t you love a good wallpaper smell? Ooooh baby, so good.
When you come to the last piece, it may need to be trimmed a little so I use a razor blade to make a nice clean cut - you can absolutely use scissors too. Add your final trimmed piece to fit and…
Voila! The most special space for an extra special girl!
